See figure 2 on page 3 and tell me again that a true free market exists for most Americans seeking health care; considering the magnitude of cost differentials (with the relatively small effective “cost” of the travel burden aside), it’s obvious that the situation has not historically behaved like a market at all. As middle-class incomes continue to wain and health care costs continue to rise, the perspectives will change: the time and effort burden of travel will grow smaller and smaller. It’s just about time for international providers to step up…
